VRD Racing's title favourite Nikita Bedrin set the fastest time of the week so far in the first free practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Friday morning.
The 20-year-old registered a 1m32.674s, over three tenths of a second faster than yesterday's fastest time, with a lap inside the final couple of minutes of the 30-minute session.
That was enough to put him a scant 0.029s ahead of yesterday's pace-setter Rowan Campbell-Pilling, who held top spot for Xcel Motorsport heading into the final five minutes.
Bedrin's teammate Patricio Gonzalez was third fastest, 0.157s further back and 0.019s ahead of 2025 GB4 champion Ary Bansal, who went one better than his position from yesterday as he gears up for his GB3 debut with series newcomers TJ Speed.
Rodin duo Martin Molnar and Abbi Pulling were next up and split by 0.083s, with Kyuho Lee the lead Elite Motorsport runner in seventh.
The third Rodin of Maxim Rehm was eighth, and set exactly the same time as JHR Developments' GB4 graduate Thomas Ingram Hill, who popped into the top-10.
Rodrigo Gonzalez (VRD) completed the top-10, which was covered by 0.697s, with another newcomer, JHR's Lewis Wherrell missing out on a top-10 spot by only 0.041s.
The lead 15 drivers in the session were within a second of Bedrin's outright pace. The next session will start at 14.20 local time.
