Fu feeling “less pressure” after maiden GB3 podium

Hitech’s Yuhao “Felix” Fu secured his first podium in the GB3 Championship at Brands Hatch, finishing second in the reversed-grid contest.

The 18-year-old started from the front row and pressurised race-winner Lucas Fluxa throughout, after the Spaniard stormed from fourth on the grid to the race lead before the first turn.

Fu finished 0.844 seconds behind Fluxa, with substitute Hitech team-mate Kanato Le completing the podium, just 0.432s further back in third.

“It was really good to finish on the podium,” said Fu. “We’ve had a difficult season and have sometimes struggled for pace, so to get a top-three is a big confidence boost.”

Fu’s previous best result had been a ninth-placed finish in the Budapest reversed-grid race – his only previous finish inside the top-10 this season.

“Budapest was a good weekend, but our result was because I avoided incidents and stayed out of trouble,” he recalled. “Brands was down to actual pace as we managed to qualify high enough to [benefit from] the reversed-grid.”

“Now that I’ve got that podium, I’m feeling that there is a little less pressure on me than there was before. I’ve shown that I can do it and I can hold my position when at the front.”

Having previously raced in F4-level championships in both Britain and his home nation of China, the 2026 season marks Fu’s first venture into Formula Regional-level competition. He admitted it has been a big learning curve to get acquainted to the higher-level machinery.

“It’s been tough and I am still learning,” he said. “At first, we struggled, but [as the year has gone on], we have started to show our pace more often.”

Ahead of the season finale in Barcelona on November 5-8, Fu is hopeful of making another step forward this season.

“Now I know I can do it, I’d like another podium or maybe even a win,” he said. “I’ve not raced at Barcelona before, but I like the track and am excited to race there.”
