GB4 Vice-Champion Fred Green will step up to GB3 by contesting the final round of this year’s series with Elite Motorsport at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (5-8 Nov).
The 16-year-old BRDC Rising Star, who has minimal GB3 mileage from Snetterton and Silverstone testing, joins Elite’s GB3 regulars Flynn Jackes and Kyuho Lee in the three races in Spain.
Despite it being the Leicestershire teen’s maiden single-seater season, he finished second in the GB4 title race with double Teams’ champions Elite after amassing six race wins, six fastest race laps and seven pole-positions in the 21-race series, claiming the George Russell Pole Position Cup and four Omologato One to Watch Awards. Fred also led almost double the number of laps than the next closest driver in this year’s GB4 series.
The 2025 Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner also finished as Vice Champion in Ginetta Juniors with Elite last year – his first full season of car racing – scoring 18 podium placings in the 24-race series, including nine victories.
The McLaren x Elite Talent Pathway driver is the nephew of former DTM multi-race winner Jamie Green while his father, Nigel, was the 2017 BriSCA F1 World and also European Stockcar Champion. Green, who attends the Motorsport UK Academy in Loughborough, began karting in 2020.
Fred Green: “Having had a successful maiden GB4 season with seven poles and six wins, GB3 seems like a reasonable step to take and I’m excited to see how we get on!
“As a whole the differences between GB4 and GB3 aren’t huge, it’s a more advanced and technical car all round. Everything is happening faster due to more aero and power. Overall I love driving both cars and think MSV has got it spot on with both.
“I’m always looking to push myself and accelerate my learning so it’s important not to stand still. Ginetta Juniors gave me a fantastic foundation while GB4 was a brilliant step into single-seaters.
“There are no set expectations for Barcelona in terms of results as such, it’s going to be tough with the rest of the competition having a year under their belts if not more.
“I’m quietly confident in myself and the people I have around me at Elite to ensure I get the most out of this amazing opportunity. Like any racing driver I hope to be at the front ruffling a few feathers.”
Team Owner Eddie Ives: “Fred fully deserves this opportunity to make his GB3 Championship debut at Barcelona.
“Considering his first full car racing season was only in 2025 and his maiden single-seater season only this year, his progress has been phenomenal.
“Vice-Champion in both Ginetta Juniors and GB4 over the past two years, the omens are already looking good for him.
“But for Barcelona, it’s important we all don’t get carried away. He’s done minimal testing in a GB3 car and so there’s no pressure from us whatsoever – just race and enjoy!”
