Mexican teenager Rodrigo Gonzalez will return to the GB3 Championship with VRD Racing for a full campaign in 2026, continuing his relationship with the squad alongside his brother Patricio.
The 19-year-old contested the second half of this year’s GB3 calendar, including the final three rounds at Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Monza with VRD.
He netted a best result of 10th during the final event of the season in Italy, demonstrating continued progress despite considerable inexperience compared to the rest of the field.
Prior to his GB3 step up, Gonzalez had performed strongly in American single-seaters, and was running seventh in USF Juniors before making the switch over to Europe towards the end of the summer.
He’d completed the full campaign in the category in 2024, and has contested the two most recent runnings of the YACademy Winter Series, finishing eighth overall at the start of 2025.
Gonzalez’s performances were all the stronger, considering he only commenced karting three years ago, initially in categories across Mexico, before moving up to international competition in 2023.
Following his maiden GB3 events, Rodrigo has now completed a busy post-season testing campaign focused on a number of UK circuits as well as the majority of the European venues the series will visit in 2026.
